Chilly Morning

Dr. Richard Kimble could have stopped running a lot sooner if he had been looking for a one-legged Flamingo. It was chilly yesterday and these pink cotton candy look-a-likes had all of their appendages (but one) drawn into a ball to keep warm. I know this is Lady Kate's purview but I was at the zoo shooting photos of the carousel when I passed this stand (yes, I wiki-ed it) of Chilean Flamingos.Scientists aren't really sure but they think that, like some other animals, they can put one side of their body to sleep while remaining alert with the other. They speculate that the side with the leg drawn up is asleep and that they wake periodically, shift legs and let the other side fall asleep. Pretty cool. But, then again, I've worked with lots of people who were half asleep on the job.Dr. Richard Kimble could have stopped running a lot sooner if he had been looking for a one-legged Flamingo.

I slightly under exposed this to bring out the color and used a little Nik Tonal Contrast to enhance the feathers.
