Unlike the Daily Photo post here at SmugMug, the blog will often contain commentary, more details about the photo (environment, weather conditions, purpose, etc) and sometimes notes on post processing. This was taken at the Seattle Japanese Garden. It’s one of hundreds of Red Leaf Maples there. I’m sorry but I don’t know the specific variety.

After the usual PP, I applied a little Tonal Contrast. I then selected and slightly feathered the branches and applied a PS Emboss filter with Overlay blend and adjusted the Opacity to make it appear to come forward from the screen. In X2, it has a little feel of 3D.
