Queen Mab’s Bower

Queen Mab's BowerThis was shot at the Kubota Garden in Seattle. It is not designed in the same classic style as the one in some of my previous posts, it is still a great place to shoot. I got there about noon and had to deal with some pretty harsh sunlight. But this dappling caught my eye and looked like it might produce an image worth posting.

This was shot at the Kubota Japanese Gardens in South Seattle. This garden at 20 some acres is 7 times larger than the one I have previously photographed. It’s not a classic Japanese garden being instead a legacy from an immigrant Japanese landscaper which is now owned and maintained by the city.

I didn’t get there until about noon on a sunny day and a lot of subjects were too “hot” to shoot. But this dappled area looked like it held some possibilities.

The principal effect I used here was Glamour Glow from NIK Color Efex. I applied it only to the background and mid foreground.
