In the flat light of a winter morning it looks quite forlorn. This is the only remaining evidence that the settlement of Wheatridge once existed. It seems similar in its loneliness to a photo of the Delight Cemetery (near Lind on the Palouse) that I posted last year.
I make one, sometimes 2, photo trips each year to the vast wheat fields of eastern Washington. I’m fascinated by the harvest, the open scenery, the golden colors and the bones of long abandoned farms and villages. Normally I go in August for the harvest but on this trip I went in late February. It started snowing here just as I was packing up my camera gear.
