Cadillac Ranch

Took this shot on the way out of Amarillo. These are ten, tail finned, Cadillacs from the 1949 to 1963 era. They are half-buried nose-first in the ground, at an angle corresponding to that of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. (Wiki Cadillac Ranch to learn more.)

They are in a vast farmer’s field about 200 yards off of Route 66 (Interstate 40). It’s private property but you are encouraged to go in and make your mark however you wish.

They were originally located about 6 miles east of the current location but had to be moved when Amarillo started to grow outwards.

DSC_8485-EditThis shot was taken from a condo balcony high up on the 360 Condominium Towers on Nueces Street. It’s not HDR and is overall pretty much like the RAW image. I did tweak the sky a little, applied some tonal contrast, and brighten it for printing purposes.
